Department of Applied Computing

The Department of Applied Computing at Lincoln involves using computing technology to solve real world problems.

At the undergraduate level (Bachelor of Software and Information Technology) we endeavour to equip students with transferable computing knowledge and skills which they can apply to real world problems. We teach courses in programming, systems analysis, databases, hardware, operating systems, networking, end user computing and simulation. Our focus in these courses is understanding and evaluating existing techniques and theories and applying them to solve real problems. The Department has strong links with the local computing industry.

The Department is also strongly involved in research and postgraduate teaching leading to honours, masters and PhD degrees.

Current interests include: Visualisation, Computer Graphics, Image Processing, Data modelling and management, Simulation and Modelling, and Computing and Education.
