About this resource 

Tourism in Christchurch is the sixth in a series of school resources produced by Lincoln University. It aims to bring new ideas, based on the teaching and research of the University, into the senior high school.

The resource itself is based on findings by Lincoln University’s Tourism Recreation Research and Education Centre. It tackles many of the issues confronted by developing tourism destinations throughout New Zealand. 

Curriculum Objectives

This resource aims to support the following Geography curriculum areas:
Level 3, NCEA Achievement Standards:

  • Analyse a cultural process. (90702).
  • Explain the contribution of geography to planning and decision-making processes. (90703).

Campus Field Trips

Christchurch and Canterbury schools will be provided with lectures on-campus during term two or by arrangement. Regional schools will be provided with a PowerPoint application of the lecture material to be used in conjunction with the online resource.
