What is Waterwatch?

An interactive programme designed to involve school students and community groups in monitoring their local rivers or streams.

Waterwatch is part of the ISAAC Centre for Nature Conservation, Lincoln University 

 


Vision

Healthy waterways through education.


Objectives

  • To provide schools and community groups with expertise and equipment to study local waterways.
  • To work in partnership with and provide links between other water quality and environmental education programmes.
  • To encourage sustainable management of and responsibility for waterways.
  • To enable students to benefit from water activities in their local environment, about their local environment, for their local environment.
  • To provide a free, flexible and accessible programme.
  • To maintain a monitoring database for assessment of changes in water quality.
