Introduction

Tourism is an activity that is relevant to large numbers of people both in New Zealand and the world. It is the largest earner of foreign exchange in New Zealand employing about 10% of the work force. However the effects of tourism go beyond economics and business. Impacts are also felt socially, culturally and environmentally.

TOUR 604 is an advanced study of the human behaviour and its management in relation to tourism; the cross-cultural nature of international tourism; and an evaluation of the methods used to manage tourist behaviour.
