Bachelor of Commerce (Valuation and Property Management)

  • 3 years
  • Full and part time
  • On campus

Property provides the space and resources for virtually every part of our daily lives, from where we live to where we work, socialise, learn, and play. It contributes enormously to the world-wide economies both in terms of a valuable asset base, and as a cost in terms of its continuous requirement for maintenance and renewal.

Highly respected by industry, the BCom.(VPM) urban property degree provides graduates with a well-rounded foundation upon which to begin their career in property, whether in New Zealand or internationally.

The theory that underpins the property papers is uniquely grounded to real life situations, through an extensive series of case studies. The degree's property papers are effectively augmented by required support papers in law, building construction practice, finance and economics.

Rural valuation is included under the BCom(Ag) degree.

Important Notes:

The minimum specification is all of the fixed courses

plus:

one 300 level paper from the B.Com schedule

plus:

for the Urban Valuation Major: VAPM 309 and VAPM 311
for Property Management Major: two of either VAPM 309, VAPM 313 or VAPM 314

However, most students choose to take the ideal specification.  This meets the academic requirements for accreditation by the Valuers Registration Board (VRB), the New Zealand Institute of Valuers (NZIV), and the Property Institute of New Zealand (PINZ) (for valuers and property managers).

If you are seeking professional registration and do not take the ideal specification it is essential that you seek course advice.
