To qualify for the Bachelor of Commerce (Valuation and Property Management) degree you must pass 360 credits including:
- at least 75 credits at the 300 level,
- no more than 165 credits at 100 level,
- all of the courses listed in the BCom(VPM) schedule.
The remaining credits can be chosen from any of the bachelor degree courses offered at Lincoln University.
The above represent the minimum specification (in which flexibility to take non-property related courses is maximised) but most students choose to take the ideal specification of the BCom(VPM) degree.
In order to qualify for this specialist Commerce degree, students must complete 12 weeks of approved practical work. Find out more by emailing practicalwork@lincoln.ac.nz.
The ideal specification meets the academic requirements for accreditation by the Valuers Registration Board (VRB), the New Zealand Institute of Valuers (NZIV), and the Property Institute of New Zealand (PINZ) (for valuers and property managers).
If prospective students are unsure of what subjects to choose, we recommend that in their first year of study they undertake either the ideal specification for the BCom (VPM) degree or the Rural Valuation Specification for the BCom (Ag) degree. In both cases this will preserve the greatest range of future options for that student in subsequent years of study. If they are still uncertain and they are aiming for professional accreditation they should seek course advice.
