Students are required to complete the degree by either examination and thesis, or by thesis alone
By examination and thesis
Students will normally take a minimum of two academic years to complete the MLA. Typically, Year 1 comprises six courses and Year 2 is devoted to the research thesis.
By thesis only
In special cases candidates may qualify to complete the M.L.A. by thesis only. Students will normally take a minimum of one academic year to complete the requirements of the degree.
By examination only
This means that you can satisfy the requirements of the degree by completing taught courses only. A dissertation (worth 40 credits) must be included in the taught courses unless otherwise specified.
