18+ card

In New Zealand the minimum age to purchase alcohol is 18 years. If you wish to purchase alcohol, you may be asked for identification. In New Zealand there are four valid types of identification for buying alcohol or cigarettes. These are:

  • Overseas passport
  • New Zealand passport
  • New Zealand driver licence
  • HAINZ 18+ card.

As an international student you may want to use  a HAINZ 18+ card. This removes the  hassle of carrying your passport and negates the risk of misplacing your passport.
