Under New Zealand law International Students must have “appropriate and current medical and travel insurance for the duration of their planned period of study.” The University observes the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students.
Copies of the full Code are available in English and other major languages via the New Zealand Ministry of Education website: http://www.minedu.govt.nz/
The regulations establish very specific requirements. All New Zealand Universities endorse the insurance plan known as Studentsafe-University which is the preferred insurance at Lincoln University.
Students who have purchased the new Studentsafe-University policy from VERO since 1st November 2009 should go to http://www.studentassist.co.nz/ for policy and contact details as well as claims and additional information.

Other insurance policies
Students who opt to purchase compliant insurance from an alternative approved provider, must make sure that the policy expiry date is valid until your return home OR for the period of your student visa, if you are staying in New Zealand.
MARSH Ltd provides an assessment service advising Lincoln University of policies that meet the required standards. We strongly advise that you do not take out insurance from your home country as policies generally do not meet the specific requirements for New Zealand compliance. Students cannot be permitted to register with non-compliant insurance.
