General information

Are you eligible to graduate?

If you are eligible to graduate you will be sent an email to your Lincoln email account  approximately two to three weeks after the release of examination results. The email will direct you to LUCAS where you can apply to graduate online.

If you think you have completed your qualification and have not received an email please contact the Academic Records Officer in Student Administration.

In order to receive your award, you must apply to graduate.  It is your responsibility to make sure you submit your application before the appropriate deadline.

There are three graduation options.  You can choose to graduate either:

  • In Person - have your parchment presented to you in person at the Graduation Ceremony; or
  • In Absentia - graduate at the Graduation Ceremony without attending.  Your parchment will be posted to you; or
  • In Council - the University Council meetings provide an opportunity for students to graduate without attending a graduation ceremony.  Students are sent their parchment in the post after the meeting date. Please note: you do not attend this meeting. Contact the Graduation Office for meeting dates and deadlines.

Application deadlines:
2012 Graduation Ceremony:  Thursday 1 March 2012.

In Council: please contact the Graduation Office as the meeting dates and deadlines vary from year to year.

Practical Work
If your degree/diploma includes a Practical Work component, you must still apply to graduate by 1st March for the ceremony or by the appropriate Council deadline even if the outcome of your practical work is not confirmed.  The Practical Work Co-ordinator will advise your results.  Practical Work reports must be submitted by Monday 20 February 2012 for the 2012 Graduation Ceremony.

Tickets
All graduands are entitled to three tickets for their guests. Additional tickets may be requested but we cannot guarantee availablility - please contact the Graduation Officer. Note that graduands do not require a ticket.

Need some help?
Special provision can be made for graduands or guests who have a disability or other special needs. Please contact the Graduation Office for advice.

Academic Regalia
Academic dress must be worn by all those graduating. This means gowns, hoods, trenchers and/or bonnets.  These are hired from the New Zealand Federation of Graduate Women.  Please complete the hire form which is part of the Graduation Application form and return with your payment.  Costs for the hire of regalia are $60.00 for undergraduate diplomas and $80.00 for degrees and postgraduate qualifications.

Māori graduands are encouraged to wear their family korowai.

Photo Opportunities & Framing
Each graduand will be photographed as they are presented with their parchment on stage and copies of these can be purchased from the official photographer, Linton Photography.  You can also view the photos on www.eventphoto.co.nz

Framers Edge is the official framer for the Lincoln University Graduation Ceremony. They can be contacted on 03 960 6667.  Full details are provided in the Graduation Pack.

Refreshments
Tea and coffee will be provided for graduates and guests following the ceremony. Only water (or refreshments from the vending machine at the venue) will otherwise be available.

Non-graduating programmes
Students who complete undergraduate certificates in Commerce or Natural Resources, a Certificate of Proficiency, a Certificate of Foundation Studies or a Certificate in University Preparation need to apply for a non-graduating award (PDF, 68.69 KB).  This means these certificates are not presented at the Graduation Ceremony but are awarded through the University Council meetings and are posted out to recipients.
