Welcome to the Home Page for the Lincoln University School’s Science and Technology Fair (Canterbury-Westland). This page gives some background to this event and also has links to other pages which give more detailed information for students, parents and caregivers and teachers. This information can be found on the lefthand tool bar.
In 2009, the Fair will be held on Sunday 13th September and Monday 14th September (see Key Dates for more detailed information) at the Christchurch Convention Centre, 95 Kilmore Street, Christchurch.
This event regularly attracts up to 400 entries from Intermediate Schools, Secondary Schools and Home Schools throughout the region.
The Fair has been held in Christchurch for over 30 years and throughout this time has grown considerably in size and reputation to become one of the premier Science and Technology Events in New Zealand.
The fair is organised by an independent committee consisting of:
Members of Christchurch Kiwanis Clubs
Members of the Canterbury Science Teachers Association
Representatives from Lincoln University, Environment Canterbury, University of Canterbury and other interested people.
Lincoln University has been the principal sponsor of the Fair for the last 10 years and as such has been granted naming rights for the event. We are very proud to have them as principal sponsors and they are supported by a wide and ever increasing range of sponsors.
We are very fortunate to be able to draw on the experience of over 100 well qualified judges from Research Organisations, Industry and the Education Sector who willing give up their time to encourage the exhibiters to follow their interest in science and technology.
The “Best in Fair” exhibit may be nominated for National Science and Technology events (http://www.realisethedream.org.nz)
