It is Lincoln University's annual Open Day and it runs from 9am till 3pm on Thursday 8 July. A wide-ranging programme has been organised by the University's liaison team, under manager Tarewa Williams, and the aim is to give those thinking about tertiary study at Lincoln a full and clear idea of what's available and what their course options are.
Individual one-to-one course advice will be available throughout the day, there will also be broader course information sessions on each of the areas of study, and alongside the nitty-gritty of courses and specific academic requirements there will be a chance to see the wider side of "university life" with campus tours and visits to the halls of residence and other facilities on-campus such as the Recreation Centre.
Lincoln University Students' Association is holding a Market Day with sales stalls and information stands about student clubs and organisations... there will be a free barbecue on the Sunken Lawn, which is alongside the Dining Hall... Team Cheapskates will be on-campus during the day to give a demonstration of their skills... The Edge radio station will be there too doing live broadcasts from the University and bands will be competing in a "Rock Off".
"We hope that visitors to our 'Open House' will get a taste of the full Lincoln Experience," says Tarewa. "The programme we have put together for the occasion covers an equal mix of the study requirements needed to achieve qualifications targeted at specific careers, and an introduction to the wider social and fun side of university life."
