Chinese scientists ‘graduate’ from Lincoln course

10 July 2006

Twenty-one Chinese scientists from nine different provinces in the People’s Republic received certificates in a ceremony at Lincoln University last night (4 July) marking the completion of six months of English language and scientific study.

The scientists, all university or technical college lecturers, associate professors or professors in their home provinces, have been at Lincoln University under a China Scholarship Council programme which has brought similar groups to the Lincoln campus for the past three years.

While at Lincoln the scientists have carried out a wide range of scientific projects, mentored by Lincoln academics. Projects have included the effects of one-day milking in dairy herds, the health benefits of blueberries, and ecological aspects of Kiwifruit, previously known in New Zealand as Chinese gooseberries.
