Carol Cooper, Manager of Teaching and Learning Services at Lincoln University, has been elected President of the Distance Education Association of New Zealand (DEANZ).
Carol, who succeeds Dr Kenshuk of Massey University in the position, was elected at the annual conference of DEANZ held in Auckland in the first week of this month. (July)
DEANZ is the New Zealand association for professionals working in flexible, open and networked education.
“Lincoln University is delighted at Carol’s election to the presidency of DEANZ,” says Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Professor Sheelagh Matear.
“We concur fully with the association’s aims of fostering growth, development, research and good practice in the areas of flexible, open and networked education.”
Among Carol’s first duties was to present the DEANZ Award for 2006. This went to Jo Gibson of CORE Education Ltd, Christchurch, a not-for-profit educational research and development organisation.
Jo won the award for her “LearnNow” project, a cross curriculum, online extension and enrichment programme for students 7 to 14 years in New Zealand and around the world, which she designed and manages.
