Lincoln University welcomes government investment

28 June 2006

Lincoln University Vice Chancellor Professor Roger Field welcomes today’s announcement by Tertiary Education Minister Dr Michael Cullen that university funding will be boosted by $26 million per annum.

Professor Field says that this is a positive move toward improving funding and salary issues affecting the New Zealand university sector.   “Ensuring that we can compete globally for high calibre academic staff is an important part of ensuring the international quality of New Zealand universities.”

“This is a major step forward for the university sector and we look forward to working with the government through the University Tripartite Forum to ensure this critical investment continues”, says Professor Field.
