Investiture ceremonies are being held at Government House this week with honours and awards being conferred and presented by His Excellency The Governor-General, the Hon. Anand Satyanand.
Professor Cameron and Professor Di were appointed as Officers of the New Zealand Order of Merit in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List in June this year and now they will receive their medals and warrants.
Both men receive the honour for “services to agricultural research” and in particular for their work to improve the environmental sustainability of dairy farming by reducing nitrate leaching into groundwater from grazed pasture systems and reducing similarly sourced emissions of the greenhouse gas nitrous oxide into the atmosphere. At the heart of this has been development of the eco-n technology.
They say they regard the honour as recognition of the work of the whole research team at Lincoln University which they have had the “privilege to lead”.
“It has been a great team effort,” they say, “and that includes the collaboration of Ravensdown staff, the support of the Foundation for Research, Science and Technology and Lincoln University.”
