New Lincoln University medal to recognise outstanding voluntary service

07 July 2008

The new award, approved by the University Council,  is open to any staff member, community member or Lincoln University alumnus who has provided long-term meritorious voluntary service which has supported the fabric or reputation of Lincoln University.

Awards  -  one or more every year  - will be made by the University Council on the advice of a  Lincoln University Medal Committee. Membership of this committee will include the Chancellor, Vice-Chancellor, President of the Lincoln University Alumni Association, Executive Officer of the Alumni Association, the President of the Students’ Association, the Staff Council representative and a community member.

In assessing the merit of each nominee, the Committee will consider the quality and quantity of time and/or resources volunteered by the nominee and the effect of the volunteered work on furthering the interests of Lincoln University.

It is intended that nominations for the first awards be assessed in time for a medal presentation ceremony at the Alumni Spring Luncheon in Show Week, in November this year.

Details of the nomination procedure are on the Lincoln University Alumni Association website.
