Lincoln University connections with top level rugby continue to be strong. The University that numbers over 30 All Blacks, three All Black captains and two Maori All Black captains among its alumni is delighted to see two former students and two current students in a Crusaders Development Unit.
Mark this coming Saturday, 12 February, on your calendar, because that’s when the The match, being described as “relaxed”, is on Lincoln University’s No. 1 rugby ground, adjacent to the Recreation Centre on Calder Drive, with the kick-off timed for 2.00pm. Three 30-minute segments will be played against a Franchise XV and among the Development Unit players will be former Lincoln University Sports Scholars Nick McLennan, a fullback, and Bernie Hall, a flanker, teamed up with current Sports Scholars Dominic Bird, a lock, and Jordan Taufua, a number eight.
The match is essentially a mini-trial for two Pacific Nations rugby games to be played at Lincoln University against the Crusaders Development Unit in March.
On Wednesday 9 March the Development Unit plays Samoa at Lincoln University, starting at 5.00pm, and on Monday 14 March it meets Tonga, again with a 5.00pm kick-off.
All games are open to the public.
