Lincoln University Ag XV to defend the MOG Shield against Massey University

29 August 2011

Friends, alumni, students and staff are invited to watch the Lincoln University Ag XV as they take on the Massey University team for the L.A. Brooks and MOG trophies in a friendly rivalry dating back over 50 years.

Lincoln University had a convincing 19-6 win over Massey University in Palmerston North last year and hope to repeat this, this year. Join us after the game for an after-match function to connect with friends, staff, students, alumni and players.

Date: Saturday 3 September
Time: 2.45pm, followed by an after-match function.
Venue: Field One, Lincoln University (Gate Two, Calder Drive)

About the trophies

The L.A. Brooks Trophy was first contested in 1952 then reinstated six years ago after a 39 year hiatus from 1966 - 2005. The fixture arose because the universities were New Zealand's original agricultural colleges. To be eligible to play in the match you must be an agriculture student.

The MOG Shield is a wooden trophy and bares a striking resemblance to a toilet seat.
