Four Lincoln University Medals for meritorious voluntary service were presented at the 2011 annual staff garden party on the campus on Friday 11 February.
The awards were made to -
Allan Bilbrough, an alumnus and former staff member in the Farm Management and Rural Valuation Department who has given lifelong service to the University inside and outside the classroom.
Leo Donkers, also an alumnus, who is a Canterbury dairy industry leader and has maintained an involvement with Lincoln University through the South Island Dairy Event (SIDE) and hosting University visitors on his properties.
Dr Sue Jarvis who has been closely involved in the University’s connections with the designation of Lincoln township as an Envirotown and other local initiatives related to environmental management.
Peter Magson of the University’s Recreation Centre, who has been the driving force behind the re-establishment on the campus of the Lincoln University Rugby Club. Peter contributes to University sport and recreation in many voluntary roles and is known as “Mr Lincoln University Sport”.
The medals were introduced in 2008 by the Chancellor, Tom Lambie, and the University Council to acknowledge exemplary voluntary service and support for the “fabric and reputation” of Lincoln University.
