Prospective students take advantage of Decision Day

26 January 2012

On Wednesday 25 January the Student Recruitment Team trialled a new initiative called Decision Day.  Essentially this was an open house for any prospective students and interested parties to come along for an informal chat to one of the team to discuss options.

Towards the end of last year there was much speculation about how Canterbury’s NCEA students would fare after a year of disruptions, sharing schools and non-teaching days, predominantly due to the earthquakes but also the unprecedented snowfalls.

Decision Day was proposed as a forum to assist our school leavers to assess their options should their grades not be what they had hoped to ensure they still had a pathway into tertiary study.

As the concept was developed though it broadened to include any prospective student – and the turn out on the day included post- and under graduate prospects, school leavers already committed to Lincoln University who wanted another opportunity to visit to check out the campus, mature students who have never studied before, school leavers still unsure of what they want to study, as well as those looking at certificate and diploma courses to feed into a bachelors degree in the future.

Any individual who is interested in study who missed out on Decision Day is still very welcome to visit the Student Recruitment Team to talk through options and to have a look at Lincoln University’s campus.  Call on 0800 10 60 10 or email land@lincoln.ac.nz.
