Although the Lincoln University campus is in sound condition and functional, we are conscious of the impacts of the earthquake on our staff, off-campus students and extended community. We are also conscious of our responsibility to support and help the wider Canterbury community at this time. For this reason, we have decided to extend the closure of the University.
Students
Lincoln University will re-open for Semester One on Monday 14 March 2011. Lectures will begin on Monday 14 March and students who need assistance enrolling and registering should go to Student Administration during the week commencing Monday 14 March.
For English Language students only – the next English Language module will start on 21 March.
Domestic (New Zealand-based) students who will be living in the Halls of Residence are asked to remain at home until Saturday 12 March.
International Students
For our international friends and family members, please know that all students on campus are safe and receiving good care. The accommodation halls have all been cleared by the Structural Engineers and dining hall, recreational and other facilities are open and available to all on campus students.
For those International students in transit, you can arrive at the University as planned. Accommodation and meals will be available, and staff support is present.
The University hotline number 0800 10 60 10 will be operated by a staff member from 6.00am to 10.00pm daily. International students should call +64 3 325 2811.
Staff
The University will be open to staff from Wednesday 2 March. In order to manage the process of staff return and preparation for Semester One, the University will provide return to campus briefings on Wednesday 2 March, Thursday 3 March and Friday 4 March with sessions at 9.00am and 1.00pm each of these days. Staff are able to decide when they wish to return to campus but must attend a briefing session prior to commencing work.
The week commencing Monday 7th March is deemed a preparation week for all staff. This week will be dedicated to preparing for the Semester start and ensuring that all materials are finalised and available as per normal.
Thank you
Lincoln University staff are very grateful for the numerous messages of support from around New Zealand and the world.
We would like to extend a very big thank you to all of our staff and students who have been providing support to the wider community. In particular, the Lincoln University students involved in the ‘Student Army’ who have given their time and energy freely to help those in need.
