University closed Friday 18 March for Earthquake Memorial

Lincoln University will be closed on Friday 18 March as the government has declared the day a public holiday in the Canterbury region. 

This is so Cantabrians can attend the National Christchurch Memorial Service.

The event begins at 10.30am – 3.30pm with the formal Memorial Service beginning at 12.30pm in North Hagley Park.

The service will be led by the Very Reverend Peter Beck, Dean of ChristChurch Cathedral and will include other city church leaders.

The service will be opened by Ngāi Tūāhuriri and include tributes from HRH Prince William, Prime Minister John Key, the Governor-General Sir Anand Satyanand, the Mayor of Christchurch Bob Parker. These speakers will pay special tribute to the people of Christchurch and all families who have lost loved ones.
