The differences between graduate and postgraduate study are:

1.  Entry

  • Graduate programmes are open to holders of a degree or equivalent
  • Entry into a postgraduate qualification requires a degree in the same discipline or related area.

2.  Number and level of courses

  • Graduate certificate – Four courses (minimum of three at 300-level)
  • Graduate diploma – Eight courses (minimum of five at 300-level)
  • Postgraduate certificate – Three courses at 600-level
  • Postgraduate diploma – Six courses at 600-level (you may substitute a dissertation for two courses, with the permission of the Academic Co-ordinator).

Diplomas can be completed in two semesters of full-time study, and certificates in one semester. Both certificates and diplomas can be studied part-time with no time limit on completion.

It is possible, on completion of a certificate, to credit courses passed towards a diploma.

Note: All courses of study must be approved by the Academic Co-ordinator who will also want to be satisfied you are adequately prepared through previous study or work experience to succeed in the courses you have chosen.
