The postgraduate and graduate certificates and diplomas are ideal for those wanting to broaden existing knowledge, gain industry experience or retrain in areas of demand.
The differences between graduate and postgraduate study are:
1. Entry
- Graduate programmes are open to holders of a degree or equivalent
- Entry into a postgraduate qualification requires a degree in the same discipline or related area.
2. Number and level of courses
- Graduate certificate – Four courses (minimum of three at 300-level)
- Graduate diploma – Eight courses (minimum of five at 300-level)
- Postgraduate certificate – Three courses at 600-level
- Postgraduate diploma – Six courses at 600-level (you may substitute a dissertation for two courses, with the permission of the Academic Co-ordinator).
Diplomas can be completed in two semesters of full-time study, and certificates in one semester. Both certificates and diplomas can be studied part-time with no time limit on completion.
It is possible, on completion of a certificate, to credit courses passed towards a diploma.
Note: All courses of study must be approved by the Academic Co-ordinator who will also want to be satisfied you are adequately prepared through previous study or work experience to succeed in the courses you have chosen.
