The Faculty of Commerce has an active research programme and provides a range of postgraduate study and research opportunities. We teach over 30 postgraduate courses each year to BCom(Hons), PGDip Com and Masters students. Those courses are in: Accounting, Agribusiness, Business Management, Development, Economics, Finance, and Marketing. In 2010 34 Masters degrees and 17 PhDs were completed in the Faculty of Commerce.
The Faculty hosts two Research Centres, LUCID (Lincoln University Centre for International Development), and the Centre for Farm Business Management. Those centres span Lincoln faculties, and Lincoln and Massey universities respectively. A Faculty of Commerce centre, CLEAR, focuses on Lean Enterprises. A fourth centre of interest is SWITCH that focuses on innovation and commercialisation.
Our research record illustrates that we are active in most mainstream business areas (accounting, economics, finance, marketing, human resource management, etc) as well as in agribusiness, business and sustainability, property valuation, property management, innovation and commercialisation. A distinguishing feature of much of our research is the area of application – an example is study of dairy farm labour issues – a human resource management topic.
