Catered halls
Our rooms in the catered halls are designed to ensure that you get to know as many people as possible.
Many events are run throughout the year and each hall has a Residential Assistant.
The catered halls are divided into five or six different buildings, each with their own unique design but at meal times we all get together and eat in the central dining hall in the middle of campus.
All the catered halls have washing machines, dryers and irons. Each hall has a least one TV lounge including a DVD and video player plus Sky television and a kitchen.
Residents of the catered halls will receive breakfast, lunch and dinner on weekdays. Breakfast, packed lunch and dinner on Saturdays, and brunch and dinner on Sundays (and on statutory holidays). The meals are buffet style and special diets, requests and late meals can be supplied to those who require them.
Catered students are admitted to residence for 37 weeks (one semester only occupancy is allowed if you are part of an exchange programme). Catered students are required to arrive on the 22nd of February and depart at the end of their academic year or no later than 24 hours after their last exam. The fees in 2012 is NZD $10,452.50 (excluding the NZD $400 contingency fee and the $75 application fee) this includes all vacation periods.
A typical catered room looks similar to this:
Each carpeted room contains a single bed, mattress, desk, chair, wardrobe, and a wall heater (plus some of our rooms have fantastic views of the Southern Alps!).
