Lincoln University Foundation

The Lincoln University Foundation was established to mark the centenary of the University.

It aims to advance education in the fields of agriculture and related interests in New Zealand.

Travel awards are provided for educational purposes, research, or to attend a course of study, lecture, seminar or display.

In principle, the Lincoln University Foundation will not support applications for conference attendance by students.

Preference is given to applicants demonstrating a direct link with land-based industries and who will contribute directly to creating enhanced opportunity for land-based industries.

The Foundation organises the annual South Island Farmer of the Year competition "Innovation in Farming".

South Island Farmer of the Year

Lincoln University plays a significant part in the development of best practice and information sharing within the South Island’s agricultural sector. In 1978 during its centenary year, Alumni set up the Lincoln University Foundation. The main purpose of the Foundation is to advance education in the fields of agriculture and related interests in New Zealand. Travel awards are provided for educational purposes, research, or to attend a course of study, lecture, seminar or display.

Each year Lincoln University hosts the the annual  Lincoln University Foundation South Island Farmer of the Year, the Foundation’s flagship activity promoting primary production in the South Island.

 

Travel award

The Foundation, established to mark the University’s Centenary, will make travel and study awards to applicants or nominees to undertake specific projects, which will contribute to the development of New Zealand’s agriculture and related industries.

Preference will be given to those applicants demonstrating a direct link with land-based industries and who will, by virtue of gaining an award, contribute directly to creating enhanced opportunity for land-based industries.

Applications from those who are supported by relationships with others in the industry, particularly in research, teaching and extension, will be welcomed.

In principle, the Lincoln University Foundation will not support applications for conference attendance by students

All successful applicants are required to prepare and submit a report (according to Foundation guidelines) to the Lincoln University Foundation Board at the completion of their study/travel.  The Foundation reserves the right to publish the report and/or any information relating to the report in any way that advances New Zealand agriculture.
