Strength and conditioning programme
The Lincoln University Sports Scholarship strength and conditioning programme aspires to produce highly skilled athletes through assisting in the development of their intellectual, personal and physical performance. Balancing sporting success with academic achievement and developing life-long skills through experiences on the programme is a priority. The strength and conditioning programme will challenge Sports Scholars in various qualities including leadership, work ethic, attendance and a winning attitude which can be brought to the field of play. The personal growth of well-rounded student-athletes graduating from this programme will have the attributes necessary to succeed at the highest level. It is our desire through our dedication to athletic performance to become one of the leading strength and conditioning programmes in New Zealand.
Strength and conditioning philosophy
The Lincoln University Sports Scholarship strength & conditioning programmes aim is to teach the proper fundamentals of strength and conditioning and improve the athletic performance of each student-athlete while reducing the occurrence of athletic injuries. Developing a strong relationship with each Sports Scholar is critical in motivating him or her to realise their potential. We are dedicated to providing equal opportunities to all Sports Scholars and contributing to the total educational experience.
The Lincoln University Strength and Conditioning Staff challenge each Sports Scholar to bring an attitude of hard work, accountability, and total effort to each workout so that the Sports Scholar will improve both physically and mentally.
Athletic performance
The Lincoln University strength and conditioning staff take a hands-on approach to the conditioning of athletes on the Sports Scholarship programme. The cornerstone of our approach to the improvement of athletic performance is the understanding of our Sports Scholarship Students’ physical conditioning needs. We provide a wide range of services for our athletes including:
- Physical evaluations (flexibility, posture, stability, body composition)
- Fitness testing (aerobic, anaerobic, speed, agility, muscular strength & power)
- Strength & Conditioning programmes
- Conditioning clinics
- Specific skill sessions
