George Forbes Memorial Library in Ivey Hall
The George Forbes Memorial Library provides a range of information services and print and electronic collection resources to support teaching, learning and research at Lincoln University.

The collection
The print collection of books, serials and theses is shelved in one sequence over the three floors of the library. Additional collections include newspapers, multimedia and the Time Out collection of recreational reading sponsored by LUSA.
An increasing proportion of the library’s collection is available online with access provided to over 20,000 electronic serials, 34,000 electronic books and to 187 databases and indexes.
All online resources can be accessed remotely from the library web site at http://library.lincoln.ac.nz and from the catalogue http://catalogue.lincoln.ac.nz.
Research archive
The Lincoln University Research Archive is an open access repository that has been developed to provide Lincoln University faculty and researchers with stable, long-term storage for their research outputs in digital form. It captures, indexes, preserves and distributes the intellectual output of Lincoln University's academics and researchers, thereby enabling online access for all potential users and researchers worldwide.
iZone
The iZone can be found at the south end of the Library on the ground floor and provides 50 PCs for accessing online resources and for study.
Library staff are available at the iZone desk to help with:
- Assignment research
- Finding information in books, serials and online resources
- Database and internet searching
- Help with placing holds
- Help with referencing
- Booking individual postgraduate or EndNote help
- IT/Computer help
In addition to those in the iZone the library has a further 55 PCs in suites on levels one and two and there are two teaching labs on the ground floor with 45 PCs that are available for general use outside teaching times. Wireless access is available throughout the library and laptop benches with easily accessible powerpoints are provided along the southeast wall of each level.
A place to study
A range and variety of spaces are provided for single or group study including 12 bookable rooms, each with a PC and whiteboard. There are designated noise free zones for those who prefer quiet study.
A place to socialise
Casual seating is provided throughout the library and the Lounge, which is located on the ground floor, is available for use at all times when the library is open. Food and drink are permitted in this area and a vending machine provides hot and cold drinks. Two IT kiosks for checking email are available for use, one of which has Skype access
