Introducing the Access Grid

Introducing the Access Grid

Access Grids supports high quality audio and real-time video , multimedia and shared applications such as powerpoint presentations to create virtual interactive spaces for display on video walls.

At Lincoln the access grid is located in the 6th Floor of the Forbes Building, Room F614. The Lincoln access grid room can accommodate approximately 10 people for an access grid meeting.

Key features of Access Grids

  • Natural high quality sound that gives an authentic feel to the experience. Good audio is a pre-requisite for successful remote collaboration.
  • Large display (typically a whole wall) allows the potentially huge number of participants to be seen simultaneously.
  • Multiple cameras are used to capture all the activity in the room. Many Access Grid nodes use four cameras.
  • Collaborative software allows participants to view and manipulate data together.

Support by ITS

The access grid requires a node operator at each location to run the application during the meeting. Lincoln ITS will provide a node operator during the meeting.

It is VERY important that any changes to the meeting times or if a meeting is cancelled that the IT Helpdesk is contacted immediately to ensure the node operator is informed.
