Introduction
Digital photography has all but replaced film in recent times, in the biggest revolution in photography since the invention of the medium in mid 19th century.
Many people are comfortable using digital cameras these days, even if they don’t know a great deal about the underlying technology. If you are interested in learning about digital image capture and storage, I have prepared some documents which explain the mechanisms involved. The first two documents below explain the "nuts and bolts" of digital imaging and the next two offer some more specific advice about preparing and using images in digital form.
For information about picture making and scientific photography in particular, please visit the Photography page.
Corel Photopaint is the default bitmap editing software at Lincoln. We have two versions of the program available on all Lincoln desktops: v 9 & v 12. For documents about Photopaint, please visit the Imaging Software page.
