Bachelor of Social Science
Felicity Boyd says she wanted her studies to be flexible and to open a variety of doors in different places, and Lincoln University, she says, has been the perfect choice for her Bachelor of Social Science degree.
Seeking a qualification with a strong track record and a broad base for future career choices, Felicity says she was drawn to studying a BSocSc at Lincoln.
“A Bachelor of Social Science includes so many interesting papers, and I will leave Lincoln with the ability to work in a variety of different fields, here or abroad. It will give me options for my career path in the future, and from what I’ve seen of previous graduates, they have all gone on to work in vastly different areas,” she says.
“When I looked into studying at Lincoln, it really appealed to me. I didn’t want to attend a huge university and risk getting lost in the crowds. I heard Lincoln’s lectures were smaller and the staff very approachable, and I knew I would thrive in that kind of close-knit environment.”
Currently in her second year, she has elected to major in “society and the individual”, and says she is focused on working as a policy analyst within local or national government after she graduates.
As a Future Leaders scholarship recipient, Felicity undertakes a range of leadership and volunteer roles within the university and wider community. She says one of her most memorable experiences at Lincoln so far has been the open days.
“Getting the opportunity to talk to high school students about what it’s like to study at Lincoln is really cool. Telling them about all the different opportunities ahead of them and seeing them get excited and enthusiastic gives me a real buzz,” she says.
