Graduation tickets

Each graduand can order a maximum of three tickets for guests to the Graduation Ceremony - you do not need a ticket for yourself. Tickets are ordered as part of the graduation application process.Guest tickets are posted out two weeks before the Ceremony date. Your tickets will be sent to your permanent address unless you have made alternative arrangements by contacting . Tickets will not be sent to an international address as they will not arrive in time for you. If you have an international address nominated as your ‘permanent’ address your tickets will be held at the University main reception desk, George Forbes, for pickup anytime in the fortnight prior to graduation or on the day.

Tickets for extra guests

We cannot issue extra tickets due to the limits on numbers at the venue. Additional guests are warmly invited to watch the Ceremony live streamed in the University's Te Kete Ika - Food and Function Centre.

Ceremony live streaming and the on-campus venue

The Ceremony is live streamed so that all guests – not just those allocated the three tickets – are able to watch the graduation ceremony taking place. Additional guests are warmly invited to watch the Ceremony live streamed in the University's Te Kete Ika - Food and Function Centre.

Everyone will gather first at the University in front of Ivey Hall before the procession heads down to the Lincoln Event Centre.

Friends and family can watch the procession set off and then head over to the Te Kete Ika - Food and Function Centre to watch the live streaming on the TV screens at the venue.

After the ceremony has taken place, graduates and guests are all invited back to the University to Te Kete Ika - Food and Function Centre, for a celebration and mingle.

It will be easy to reconnect with any friends and family who have been watching at the Restaurant and Function Centre, as this is where you must go to return your regalia afterwards - as well as where the photographer, the Linc bookshop and Alumni Association stands are located.

Arrangements for young children and mobility-impaired

Recommendations for young children

If you have young children who will not enjoy being seated for up to two hours in a formal ceremony, arranging for a friend or family member to babysit them at the Te Kete Ika - Food and Function Centre is a great option. All guests, including children of any age, will require a ticket to the ceremony. Please consider that family members who have to take upset children out of the venue may well miss your important moment.

Arrangements for mobility-impaired

If you need to make arrangements for mobility-impaired family members please email before the event so we can advise on options or organise support.

Car parking and tips for the day

Parking at Lincoln University and Lincoln Event Centre

Car parking will be available at the Lincoln Event Centre, located at 15 Meijer Drive, Lincoln, and on the Lincoln University campus. Please allow yourself and your guests plenty of time to arrive.

Tips for enjoying graduation

Dress to your comfort level and layers are key. April - May in Canterbury could mean anything from a bright sunny day to rain with a cold wind.

If you walk in the procession, comfortable walking shoes are recommended.

Graduation gowns do not have pockets so please arrange for someone to carry items for you (eg wallet and mobile).

Consider carrying extra camera batteries if you are bringing a camera. You may take more photos than expected.
