2013 domestic tuition fees - PhD and Master's thesis

Tuition fees are based on whether you are a full or part-time student, and the number of months you are enrolled in.  Students are also required to pay a compulsory Student Services Fee. The final cost of tuition fees is calculated upon enrolment.  Fees are due when you register. 

When you submit your thesis, fees will be adjusted accordingly. Students who are in the final year of completing their thesis may qualify to pay tuition fees monthly in advance. Please contact Student Finance for more information on eligibility and payment arrangements.

Students paying by student loan must apply to StudyLink every year. Completing students must apply before handing in their thesis. To qualify for a full student loan, students must be enrolled in a minimum of 0.8000 EFTS for 32-52 weeks of continuous study.  Periods less than 32 weeks must meet the EFTS entry requirement.  Part-time students seeking to borrow their tuition fees under the student loan scheme should also contact StudyLink to check eligibility.

If close to completing, research students must apply to StudyLink for their Loan before handing in their thesis.

Students eligible for a loan may use it to pay all or part of the fees. If you are wanting to pay your fees by loan, important points to note are:

1. Indicate in your application that the loan is to pay the course fees.
2. Provide all the necessary supporting documentation to StudyLink for the loan to be approved.

The table below provides a list of the full-time full year costs of domestic research fees for both Master's Thesis and PhD students.

Not all courses are offered in any one year.

All fees are in NZ dollars and includes a goods and services tax.
