2012 domestic tuition fees - PhD and Masters thesis

Tuition fees are based on whether you are a full or part time student, and the number of months you are enrolled in.  Students are also required to pay a compulsory Student Services Levy. The final cost of tuition fees is calculated upon enrolmentFees are due when you register

When you submit your thesis, fees will be adjusted accordingly. Students who are in the final year of completing their thesis may qualify to pay tuition fees monthly in advance. Contact Student Finance for more information on eligibility and payment arrangements.

Students paying by student loan must apply to StudyLink every year. Completing students must apply before handing in their thesis. To qualify for a full student loan or student allowances, students must be enrolled in a minimum of 0.8000 EFTS for 32-52 weeks of continuous study.  Periods less than 32 weeks must meet the EFTS entry requirement.  Part time students seeking to borrow their tuition fees under the student loan scheme should also contact StudyLink to check eligibility.

There are some circumstances where research students may NOT be eligible for Student Allowances or the living component of Student Loans. It is important to discuss enrolments with both Lincoln University and Studylink before study is undertaken, to ensure you are fully aware of your eligibility for financial assistance.

Examples of students who may not be eligible include:

  • Students who start their research after March 1 (full or part time).
  • Students who suspend their research.
  • Students who take an extended break between their taught studies and research within the same academic year (e.g. finish taught courses at the end of Semester 1 but do not start research until August).

If close to completing, research students must apply to StudyLink for their Loan/Allowances before handing in their thesis.

Students eligible for a loan may use it to pay all or part of the fees. If you are wanting to pay your fees by loan, important points to note are:

1. Indicate in your application that the loan is to pay the course fees.

2. Provide all the necessary supporting documentation to StudyLink for the loan to be approved.
