There was a large presence of Lincoln University staff at the 5th Academy of Wine Business Research Conference hosted by Auckland University during the second week of February. Papers were presented by Sharon Forbes (Women and wine: Analysis of this important market segment), Kamal Ghose (Exploring brand associations in wine purchases) and Rupert Tipples (Wine supply chain breaks: New Zealand wines from Cottesbrook, Canterbury) from the Commerce Faculty and by Jo Fountain (It’s a happy drink: Australasian generation Y’s experiences and perception of sparkling wine) in ESD. David Cohen from Commerce also attended the conference. Highlights included an industry session and a keynote address by Tony Spawton. Lincoln University staff also enjoyed attending the two field trips; a day exploring vineyards and wineries on Waiheke Island and an optional trip at the end of the week around the Waipara wine region.
