Academic and Professional Background
John Hampton is Professor of Seed Technology and Director of the Lincoln University Seed Research Centre (www.seedcentre.org.nz). His research expertise includes seed production, seed quality assurance, seed health and seed vigour. He is currently Science Leader for the MBIE funded Smart Seeds for Export and Advanced Seed Production Systems research programmes. John chairs the University Health & Safety Committee, and represents the Bio-Protection Research Centre on the University Research Committee and Postgraduate Advisory Group. His services to the New Zealand seed industry and seed research were recognized in 2006 when he became a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Agricultural and Horticultural Science, and in 2010 when he was the recipient of the PGGWrightson Seeds Ltd Significant Achievement Award.
