Master of Natural Resources Management and Ecological Engineering

(M.Na.R.M.& E.E.)


Natural Resources Management is about being committed to the wise use of natural resources.

Sustainability demands internationalisation of environmental management. There is a need for people trained in an international setting.

That is why Lincoln University has joined with BOKU University, Vienna, Austria to produce the innovative Master of Natural Resources Management and Ecological Engineering.

Graduates will become part of the next generation of environmental managers who will play an important role in developing sustainable lifestyles.

Students normally take a minimum of two academic years to complete an M.Na.R.M.&E.E by examination and thesis.

Students are required to study at both Universities, and will finish with a jointly-awarded degree.

How to qualify

A candidate for the M.Na.R.M.& E.E. will have qualified for a Bachelor's degree in Science, Resource Studies, Natural Resources Engineering or the equivalent.

Course of study

This degree is offered jointly with the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences (BOKU), Vienna, Austria. Students must complete one semester of study (60 credits/30 ECTS) at BOKU.

A candidate for the M.Na.R.M& E.E. will have qualified for a bachelor's degree in Science, Resource Studies, Natural Resources Engineering or the equivalent.

The degree comprises 120 credits of coursework (60 credits must be at BOKU) plus a 120 credit thesis.
Specialisations are available in:

  • Ecological Engineering
  • Nature Conservation and Wildlife Management
  • Risk Management
  • International Business and Sustainability.

Alternatively students can complete an individual major by selecting courses which meet their interest and career aspirations. The course of study must be approved by the M.Na.R.M.E.E. co-ordinator having regard to coherence and relevance.

ECON 615Applied Research Methods
ERST 601Advanced Theory in Resource Studies
ERST 606Advanced Geographic Information Systems A
ERST 607Advanced Geographic Information Systems B
SOCI 601Social Science Research methods (Quantitative)
SOCI 602Social Science Research methods (Quantitative)
Plus 80 credits at 600 level taken from the master's degree courses offered at Lincoln University, or BOKU.
