What you will learn

After successfully completing this course, you’ll be able to:

  1. Describe landform surfaces using contours, spot heights and gradients with regard to the implications and effects of different gradients on land surfaces and structures.
  2. Identify the physical characteristics of common building materials and how their use influences design decisions.
  3. Identify the key features of the New Zealand Building Code when applied to the design of site buildings and structures.
  4. Describe basic design considerations for stormwater detention and drainage solutions with regard to their respective advantages and disadvantages.
