Vision
A world-class multi-use site that demonstrates the potential for integrated renewable energy and agricultural land use to advance a sustainable future for people and planet.
Strategic Goals
- Develop new knowledge and skills in sustainable energy-agriculture land-use through research and educational excellence
- Contribute to the sustainability goals of the University, including carbon neutral campus by 2030 and increased on-farm biodiversity and water quality
- Provide reciprocal learning opportunities for tangata whenua, industry partners and the wider community
Operational Goals and design considerations
There are six main operational goals of the Lincoln University Energy Farm which are:
- Renewable electricity production
- High-valued horticulture
- Improved water quality
- Increased biodiversity and ecosystem services
- Experimental research platform
- Community engagement and outreach
