Mihi Whakatau

E kā manu pī o te wao, tēnei te karaka, tēnei te reo pōhiri kia whakatau mai kā kaimahi hou, kā tauira hou ki Te Whare Wānaka o Aoraki.

A welcoming ceremony that is conducted by mana whenua from the area.

Whakatau is to settle. This important ceremony gives all staff and students the opportunity to engage with the area's traditional cultural practises.

The whakatau will be conducted by Te Taumutu Rūnanga. 

When: 8.15 am start, Monday, 17 February

Where: Forbes Lawn

Please arrive at the Waimarie Building (or the Stewart Building if it rains) at 7.45 am for a briefing, ready to start at 8.15 am.
