Semester 2 Orientation

Save the dates: 9 to 15 July 2025

Orientation is your chance to get prepared, meet new people, and feel supported as you begin your studies. Register and attend compulsory orientation events, such as your faculty Rā Whakawhanaukataka | Orientation Day and International Student Orientation, to ensure you’re ready to start your Lincoln University journey.

Whether you're an undergraduate, postgraduate taught, research student, or pursuing a diploma or certificate, we’ve got you covered. You are only required to attend the orientation activities that are specific to you. Whānau and friends are welcome to support you as you start this exciting journey.

Step 1: Start with your faculty

Start by identifying your faculty. A “Find Your Faculty Guide” will be available in June. Use the guide to determine which faculty you belong to and then navigate to your faculty below to explore your tailored orientation activities.

Contact us if you need more information to find your faculty.

Email: mylinc@lincoln.ac.nz

Step 2: Register for compulsory events

Make sure to register and attend these compulsory events for a strong start to your studies. Registration links will be emailed to you and available on this page in late June.

For all new students:

Register for your faculty Rā Whakawhanaukataka | Orientation Day. It is tailored to your programme and connect you with faculty staff and other new students.

  • Faculty of Agriculture and Life Sciences: Thursday, 10 July – morning session
  • Faculty of Environment, Society, and Design: Thursday, 10 July – afternoon session
  • Faculty of Agribusiness and Commerce: Friday, 11 July – morning session

For new international students:

Attend both your faculty orientation and the International Student Orientation to help you settle into life and study in New Zealand.

  • International Student Orientation: Wednesday, 9 July, 10.30am – 2pm

For new under-18 students (Not in campus accommodation):

You also need to attend the Under-18 Orientation for support and guidance to help you settle into university life.

It will be held during the first week of classes. Eligible students will receive an email with all the details, including the time and location, in their LU mailbox.

Step 3: Mark your calendar

A Full Uni-Wide Orientation Calendar will be available in June, providing a comprehensive schedule of faculty-specific events and university-wide sessions. This includes enrolment help, course and timetable support, IT assistance and guided campus tours. The calendar is colour-coded to make it easy to find your faculty and the sessions tailored for your cohort.

Save the dates and make a plan to attend your compulsory sessions. Whānau, family, and friends are welcome to join you for support.

Studying online or unable to attend in person?

Attending your orientation in person is a great way to meet new friends, connect with faculty staff, and get a real feel for campus life. However, we understand that other commitments or circumstances might make it challenging for some students to be there in person. If that’s the case, here are some options to help you get the essential information you need.
