What can you study?
As a Study Abroad or exchange student you may choose from any of the courses we offer, as long as you have the appropriate preparation, and you must study full-time.
Undergraduate students
Almost all undergraduate courses are 15 credits each, and most students will enrol in 60 credits per semester (four courses). The minimum number of credits you may study in a semester is 45 (three courses).
You can choose from courses at the 100 level (first year), 200 level (second year), or 300 level (third year). Check the prerequisites for each course at the 200 and 300 levels to ensure you have suitable preparation.
Postgraduate students
Postgraduate courses are at the 600 level and are 20 credits. Students enrol in three courses per semester.
Courses and timetable
At the start of each semester you will have access to course outlines. The Study Abroad and Exchange Coordinator can provide you with copies earlier on request. These may not be the final versions but would be suitable for a pre-approval process at your home university.
On arrival you’ll have an opportunity to discuss your course selections with Lincoln’s academic staff and you’ll still be able to make changes during the first week of the semester.
Steps to find courses and build your timetable
Begin by exploring the available courses through the course search and identify the courses you wish to enrol in.
Ensure that the course is offered during your exchange semester. You can find this information when you open the details of any specific course through the course search.
Review the course prerequisites and make sure you have the necessary background to enrol. Additionally, confirm that the course is not restricted to a specific degree program. Courses limited to certain academic programs are not available to exchange students. To check this, look for the phrase "Your Academic Program is" under the prerequisites and restrictions section—this indicates the course is not open to exchange students.
Once you have selected 4 preferred courses (for undergraduate students) or 3 preferred courses (for postgraduate students), check the timetable to ensure that your chosen courses do not overlap.
If any of your selected courses have overlapping schedules, you will need to return to the course search and choose alternative courses.
