As New Zealand’s leading specialist university, Te Whare Wānaka o Aoraki Lincoln University occupies a unique and vital position. We’re the university singularly equipped to address the critical needs of our land-based sectors, ensuring a fundamental understanding of these needs through our deep intertwining with industry, communities and government stakeholders.
Over the last five years the University has seen significant growth in student enrolments. In 2024 we surpassed 5,000 students for the first time, reaching a student enrolment headcount of 5,484 - 21% increase on 2023. This growth, coupled with our strategic transition to being more postgraduate-intensive, with 51% of our EFTS now postgraduate, solidifies our standing as a research-intensive university leading the advancement of Aotearoa New Zealand’s land-based sectors towards a more resilient and sustainable future.
The University remains financially sustainable, demonstrating effective governance and financial management in a challenging tertiary landscape. This Annual Report 2024 provides key facts and figures, highlighting our sustained progress toward the six goals of the Lincoln University Strategy 2019-2028.
