Whistleblower

Our whistleblower email address is an anonymous way to make a complaint about suspected unethical behaviour such as fraud, corruption, harassment or bullying. We support this as an anonymous reporting tool and will review if this process is the most appropriate way to address the issues reported. The email address is: whistleblower@lincoln.ac.nz .

Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras installed at various sites (campus and farms)

This Privacy Notice relates to personal information that Lincoln University collects via Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras installed at various sites (campus and Farms) and your rights in relation to that information. Nothing in this Privacy Notice limits or excludes your rights under the Privacy Act 1993 or the Privacy Act 2020, as applicable (Privacy Act).

Information about what individuals do on campus may be collected and held by the University. Information will be stored on Lincoln University files and database(s), or those of its service providers and all reasonable security measures will be maintained. Where a service provider is located outside of New Zealand, personal information held by the University may be transferred outside of New Zealand.

We must comply with the Privacy Act 2020, the Public Records Act 2005.

 Purposes of operating CCTV cameras and collecting data

  • Security and loss prevention
  • As a deterrent to vandalism and criminal activity
  • To protect University property and the property of staff, students, tenants, and members of the public
  • To assist with the investigation(s) of safety or security incidents involving staff, tenants, students, or members of the public

Collection of Information
CCTV cameras, supported by lighting systems where applicable, are installed externally and internally at several locations across LU. Appropriate signage will be/is installed notifying staff, students, tenants, and visitors that CCTV is in operation in the area.

Disclosure of Information Held
Information collected may be disclosed to, and published by the NZ Police, if they decide that circumstances require this. The information collected may be accessed by specific University staff and used for the purposes specified above.

Access to CCTV Information
Individuals identified on CCTV have the right to request access to footage about them. The University will make information held about an individual available to them upon written request, in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020 (Office of the Privacy Commissioner | Privacy Act 2020 and the Privacy Principles) - which also describes the conditions under which information may be withheld.
