Need to improve your English before beginning a degree? Our English Language courses are for you.

These programmes will give you the skills you need for future study or a career. Use them to meet the English language entry requirements for our academic programmes. You will not be required to sit any other test, such as IELTS or TOEFL.

The English for Academic Purposes (EAP) programme 

The English for Academic Purposes (EAP) course will prepare you for successful study at the undergraduate or postgraduate level. 

The course covers:  

  • Reading academic books and journals 
  • Writing formal reports and research essays 
  • Studying academic vocabulary 
  • Using library resources  
  • Presenting academic seminars and talks 
  • Taking notes. 

Teaching and assessments are delivered in four-week modules, meaning that you can start at various times throughout the year.

    You will need to study for a minimum of 12 weeks (three four-week modules).

The Graduate Certificate in Academic English

The Graduate Certificate in Academic English (GCAE) is especially for those wanting to enter postgraduate study. It combines English language skills with academic preparation for our postgraduate programmes.
