Malika Arora, Bachelor of Viticulture and Oenology

For Malika, from Chandigarh, India, the decision on where to study viticulture was simple

“New Zealand has the best wines in the world and thus there was no better place to study viticulture and in a specialist land-based university like Lincoln,” she said.

She is in the first year of her Bachelor of Viticulture and Oenology degree.

“I have always wanted to study agriculture and plant-based subjects, and when I came upon this course I was really fascinated.

“Along with my passion for studying plant anatomy and morphology I would also learn about the making and processing of grapes and how the wines are made. Thus here I am, fulfilling my passion and having the best time at Lincoln.”

She said Lincoln has the “all the agricultural courses one can think of”.

“It has its own vineyards, farms, and dairy farms. Also, it has the best lecturers who themselves have the most experience in their particular fields.

“There’s nothing that I don’t enjoy (about the degree). Right from lectures to the labs, everything is really amazing. The professors and my peers are really helpful. The labs and the field trips are really amazing, and very enjoyable.”

She said there are a lot of fun activities always going on in Lincoln, the entire campus is always bustling with teachers, students, and you enjoy that.

“Not to forget the café where we sit with friends and gossip while having a yummy lunch. LUSA is always having some fun activity or the other on campus too, which usually includes free food.

“The library staff, the international advisors, and even the finance section, everybody is polite and they always welcome us for any queries.”

Malika added students could choose from a long list of courses, “which makes it an amazing place to study at as we meet people from almost all sorts of careers and come to know about their experiences.”

“Just close your eyes and come to Lincoln. You will enjoy every bit of it.”
