RECN111 is an introductory examination of evidence-based principles and practices in leadership, management, and evaluation across the leisure industries (i.e., sport, recreation, and tourism) in Aotearoa.

What you will learn

After successfully completing this course, you’ll be able to:

  1. Articulate the scope of competencies, skills, and responsibilities across Aotearoa’s leisure industries.
  2. Explain and apply best practice in leisure leadership through simulated learning activities such as coaching, planning, or programming.
  3. Present, using an awareness of professional communication and research evidence as it is applied in multi-faceted and bicultural leisure settings.
  4. Discuss emerging socio-cultural, environmental, and economic issues likely to impact the future of professional practice across the leisure sectors in Aotearoa.
