About Our Speaker

Dr Wei Yang, Massey University

Dr Wei Yang is a Senior Lecturer in Farm Management and Agribusiness at the School of Agriculture and Environment, Massey University. She holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Auckland and brings over a decade of experience spanning academia, policy, and applied research.

Dr Yang has held research roles at NIWA, Lincoln University, and AgResearch, developing a strong interdisciplinary network across science, industry, and government. Her research focuses on both agricultural and environmental economics—ranging from technology adoption and on-farm practice valuation, to supply chain analysis and climate adaptation strategies. She is particularly recognised for her work in market and non-market valuation, helping to better understand and quantify the economic value of nature.

Dr Yang has contributed to major national and international research initiatives including Our Land and Water (OLW), MBIE Endeavour, and Catalyst-funded projects, and has published widely in top international journals.
