Alumni dominate Young Farmer regionals

24 March 2021 | Students News

Lincoln University alumni claimed the top three places in the Aorangi FMG Young Farmer of the Year last weekend and have a good chance of emulating the feat at this weekend’s Tasman showdown.

Bachelor of Agricultural Science graduate, and manager at Singletree Dairies, Dale McAlwee claimed the top spot at Methven with fellow Lincoln  alumni Jason Erasmus and Lachlan Anglanda in second and third place respectively.

Six of the eight finalists had also studied at Lincoln, and at next Saturday’s Tasman regional final in Sheffield the proportion will be even higher. Two of the finalists are current Lincoln students while another five are alumni, making up seven of the eight contestants for the title.

Congratulations to all those who competed at Aorangi and good luck to the competitors lining up for the Tasman event.

The huge number of our alumni involved highlights Lincoln’s connection with the food and fibre industries, and why we are right behind the contest as a sponsor.
