Chancellor marks son's graduation

03 May 2021 | Students News

Lincoln University Chancellor Bruce Gemmell had a pleasurable task to perform as part of his duties for the Lincoln University Graduation next week.

He recently had the opportunity to stamp the Official College Seal on the parchment of his son Nick, who will graduate with a Bachelor of Science on 14 May in the Christchurch Town Hall.

The seal was adopted in 1896 and each degree is manually stamped in wax, lending authenticity to the document.

The ceremony will take place in central Christchurch for the first time in more than a decade, following an earthquake-enforced break of 11 years.

As chair of the Lincoln University Council, the Chancellor oversees the event, so he will be onstage when his son receives his degree.
